As a non-profit organization, the Eugene Area Chamber of Commerce is governed by a board of directors which is approved by the membership. When a position opens, all members are open to apply and new additions to the board will be communicated to the membership via email from the President & CEO.

business leaders task force on homelessness and public safety

The Business Leaders Task Force (BLTF) is a Chamber-led effort to unite local business leaders impacted by our public safety and homelessness Crisis to learn about these issues from accurate data and informed experts, while implementing the recommendations set forth in the 2021 Homelessness Report. To operationalize the efforts of the BLTF, the task force has created four subcommittees: data, communications, enforcement and accountability, and workforce development. These subcommittees are newly founded and establishing their meeting schedules and objectives.

This council will meet regularly to inform these efforts and will help provide feedback to the State Legislative Working Group for potential proactive advocacy the Chamber may engage in to advocate for policies that support local businesses. [We are currently planning to launch this advisory body in Q2 of 2022.]

The Eugene Chamber Ambassadors are the goodwill council of the Eugene Chamber. The Ambassadors are selected volunteers charged with assisting Chamber staff at certain networking events with light duties, and celebrating Chamber members’ grand openings, ribbon cuttings, and other ceremonies.

To engage the 2022 Short Session and interim committee work, the Chamber will convene a working group consisting of local area business leaders. This group will meet regularly through the 2022 legislative session to identify top issues for the Chamber to actively lobby. This body will assist staff in understanding the issues relevant to businesses locally that are under consideration this session and in interim working groups, strategies for lobbying the most pertinent bills and assist in advocacy efforts to achieve positive legislative outcomes. This group will also assist advisory councils in homelessness and public safety, infrastructure and education, and workforce development with understanding the impacts of state legislation and advocacy to help inform staff state advocacy efforts in those areas.
