Event Description:
Moonlight 5 Mile Run on June 1st will be the second annual run for stroke rehabilitation. The race course is hosted on the walking paths and sidewalks around Sacred Heart Medical Center at Riverbend in Springfield. The five-mile long route gives participants the opportunity to experience the surrounding scenic areas enhanced by the spectacle of thousands of illuminated luminarias. The course starts and finishes at the Riverbend Annex, which transforms on race night into a mini-festival, complete with a DJ and complimentary food. Last years event included runners from every corner of Oregon and drew in participants from as far away as Australia, ranging from social walkers to competitive distance athletes. No matter what their background, everyone came to enjoy the visual spectacle of this five mile race.
