| Chamber
Involvement
Every day government
officials at all levels make decisions that impact the
local economy and the ability of businesses to succeed.
The Chamber serves as the voice of business, ensuring
that the interests of business are considered in local
decision-making. Whether the issue is transportation,
regulations, fees, taxes, or growth management land use
planning, the Chamber works on behalf of its members to
help create and maintain an environment in which
business can succeed.
The
Local Government Affairs Council (LGAC) is the primary
means by which the Chamber deals with public policy and
legislative issues in Eugene and Lane County. LGAC is a
25-member committee appointed by the Board of Directors
and empowered by the Board to develop public policy
positions and communicate positions to elected
officials, government agencies and our membership. The
committee meets at 7:30 a.m. every Friday at the
Chamber.
Our involvement in the
government process does not end there. Your
participation is also necessary. This site will identify
priority issues facing Eugene's business community and
help you find where to go for information and who to
contact with your ideas, concerns or suggestions. For
more information contact Terry
Connolly, Director of Government Affairs, 242-2353.
